Lucien Remembered as Treasured Friend and Advocate for Peace

2006 Tacoma Peace Prize Laureate and current Board Member Bill Lincoln notes that Dawn Lucien, "was an effective catalyst, advocate, and activist -- and always with grace." Lincoln nominated Lucien and her son Eric Olson to receive the Greater Tacoma Peace Prize. They were awarded the prize in 2014.

Lincoln explains, "Dawn to me was both a treasured forever friend as well as constant colleague in discussing and planning peace concerns and projects." Their efforts along with Mark Haley resulted in the conceptual development of a conflict prevention, management, and resolution degree program for University of Washington Tacoma.

Lucien often opened her home to discuss important community issues. Lincoln "fondly recall(s) the many times that Dawn invoked her social business practice of 'Please join me in my home for wine and cheese as we discuss ...' whatever or 'to meet a ballot candidate for ...'."  He concludes, "I will always fondly remember her, and miss her as well."

Join Dawn's friends and colleagues at a celebration of life at the Pantages Theater on Sunday July 30th at 2 PM.
